GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.

GIZ International Services is preparing for an upcoming EU-funded technical assistance assignment under the Africa–EU Space Partnership Programme (AESPP Boost). 

The action will support the European Commission and partners in strengthening programme coordination, stakeholder engagement and the uptake of space-based services and applications (notably Copernicus and Galileo) in support of green transition priorities across Africa. 

We are currently looking to identify potential Team Leader candidates to support the Space Partnership Coordination 

We are particularly interested in profiles with: 

  • Expertise in EU space policies and programmes, including Copernicus and Galileo 

  • Experience working with EU institutions or EU-funded international cooperation programmes. 

  • Exposure to Africa–EU cooperation frameworks  

  • Proven ability to operate in multi-country, multi-stakeholder environments

  • Space Policy and Regulatory Framework Experts 

  • Climate, Environmental Agriculture and Food Security Monitoring Specialists

Qualifications and skills 
Minimum requirements 

  • Master’s degree in international relations, economics, space policy, geospatial sciences, engineering, development studies or related discipline, or bachelor’s degree in the same fields plus four additional years of relevant professional experience. 

  • Excellent programme management, coordination and facilitation skills. 

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 level or equivalent). 

Additional desirable qualifications and skills 

  • Knowledge of the EU Space Programme, including Copernicus and Galileo. 

  • Experience working with EU institutions or EU-funded international cooperation programmes. 

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate dialogue among multi-stakeholder partnerships involving public institutions, private sector actors and research organisations. 

General professional experience 
Minimum requirements
 
 

  • At least 12 years of professional experience in programme management, international cooperation, digital transformation, space technologies or related fields. 

Additional desirable general professional experience 

  • Experience managing large multi-country technical assistance programmes. 

  • Experience managing EU-funded programmes under instruments such as NDICI or similar international cooperation frameworks. 

Specific professional experience 
Minimum requirements 

 

  •  At least 7 years of experience coordinating complex international programmes or partnerships involving multiple stakeholders. 

Additional desirable specific professional experience 

  • Experience supporting Africa–EU cooperation initiatives. 

  • Experience coordinating programmes related to space applications, digital innovation or technological transformation 

  •  Experience organising high-level policy dialogues, stakeholder coordination platforms or strategic events.
